The president of the National Electoral Council (CNE) of Venezuela, Elvis Amoroso, denounced today the intense media campaign against the presidential elections of July 28, with the aim of hindering their good performance so far.

In a rally for the start of the Republic Plan of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), which will deploy more than 380,000 troops throughout the country, Amoroso pointed out that the “attacks are permanent and for this purpose they use dirty money and drug trafficking”.

He underlined that the money used come from the money stolen from Venezuelans, from the gold stolen in banks abroad and from the Citgo company in the United States, whose funds “are being used by the media to carry out a campaign of destruction against the people and to hinder these elections”.

Amoroso pointed out that the actions emanate especially from the United States and the international press through the agencies, although he denounced “national media outlets that must be serious, publish anything that is said against our homeland”.

The high official affirmed that during several weeks the international media dedicated space and time to attack the CNE and the voting process.

He stated that what is being published is a lie and highlighted the unity of the FANB, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Moral Power, the Ombudsman and the Comptroller’s Office regarding this electoral process and compliance with the law.

In this sense, he affirmed that “the Venezuelan institutionality is working perfectly”, and none of them, as they want to make it seem, has differences, thanks to the “loyalty of each one of the leaders of the Public Powers in Venezuela”.

In four days, the 10 candidates in campaign, nine opposition candidates and one pro-government candidate, will face each other at the polls, to which 21.6 million voters are summoned throughout the country.
