The short-listed players of the Cuban men's softball are training to compete in the Pan American Championship, to be held in Sincelejo, Colombia, on April 7 to 14.
The World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC) will grant five berths for the World Cup—where 10 other teams already have a safe seat—organized for the first time with a two-stage format, the first of which will start in the summer with 18 teams divided into three groups and where the top two teams of each group and two wild cards will play in the final, scheduled for 2025 in Prince Albert, Canada, on July 8 to 13.
According to Cuban head coach Eduardo Cardenas, the team’s forte is its pitching staff and its defense.
Team Cuba’s ace pitcher Alain Román, who threw a no-hitter in his last appearance, is now engaged in the playoffs of the Guatemalan League and will join the training sessions in Cuba on March 17.
