Cuban company aims for higher goals

The diversification of services and the strengthening of the main production lines characterize the current situation of the Angel Villarreal Bravo Industrial Enterprise, better known as the Minerva bicycle factory.
This was highlighted exclusively for the Cuban News Agency by its director Eliel Perez Perez, a mechanical engineer, who explained that the factory was initially designed to produce mechanical bicycles (with a high level of specialization in processes such as welding the frame and making the fork) but later began to venture into the section of cycles, motorcycles and electric tricycles.
He explained that this opening in the product line led the company to rescue the production of wheelchairs, to the point that currently they are the only ones dedicated to the assembly of these means in the country, and together with the concept of taking advantage of all the available machinery, they also started to create shelving for warehouses, both small and large format.
Perez Perez pointed out that these services have been well received by the customers and the population that demand the products, especially the wheelchairs, where there is a commitment to manufacture around 1,300 chairs between March and April to be delivered to the Ministry of Public Health in order to give a certain level of response to the demand of the hospitals.
He emphasized that in commercial terms, the strongest line is in motorcycles and tricycles, which will benefit from a medium-scale investment project that will have an impact on the assembly and finishing process and, by extension, on the final quality of the product.
In addition, he added, there is an agreement with a foreign supplier, which can extend the chain to electric quadricycles, which constitutes an opportunity to expand into this field that can be attractive for the Cuban market.
The Industrial Company Angel Villarreal Bravo Minerva was created in 1995 with the aim of producing and marketing bicycles for domestic consumption, as well as for the search for opportunities in foreign markets, taking advantage of its machinery for the production of metal structures.
With the premise of producing and offering the country ecological equipment, it is committed to a sustainable future by commercializing equipment powered by electric energy; it maintains and increases its business for tourism investments, the Mariel Special Development Zone, import substitution and the use of electronic commerce.
