Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel is participating in the inauguration of the 4th Conference on the Nation and Emigration at Havana's International Conference Center on Saturday.

During the weekend, around 400 participants from 50 countries will discuss the links with their nation of origin and the prospects of that relationship, as well as migration issues and others related to culture and identity, economic development and investments.

The 4th edition of the Conference, postponed in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, resumes the contacts that have made it possible to strengthen ties between Cuba and its compatriots in recent years.

According to the general director of Consular Affairs and Cuban Residents Abroad at Cuba’s Foreign Ministry (DACCRE), Ernesto Soberón, the Conference has the peculiarity that after its end, participants will be able to socialize their results with those who could not participate.

He pointed out that 4th Conference is an opportunity to share the experiences of Cuban who live in several countries, how their participation has been in the main battles that our country is waging, and their fight against the United States blockade.

The 4th Conference on the Nation and Emigration coincides with the 45th anniversary of the first of these meetings, which took place in 1978, and with the 2nd “Cuba va Conmigo” (Cuba Goes with Me) Cultural Festival, which was held recently with the participation of dozens of Cuban artists and intellectuals who reside overseas.
