Cuban president regrets migrant accident in Mexico

President Miguel Díaz-Canel sent condolences to the victims' families and his best wishes for recovery to those injured in the tragic traffic accident in Chiapas state that claimed the lives of Cuban migrants.
On X, former Twitter, the president reiterated that the Cuban Embassy in Mexico is providing consular assistance while urging to use regular, safe, and orderly migration routes.
According to press reports, the traffic accident occurred on the Chiapas coast this Sunday when a three-ton truck without number plates carrying 26 Cuban migrants overturned. All dead were women, including one minor, and many were injured.
The Municipal Police, the National Guard, and Civil Protection paramedics went to the accident scene, and the injured were transported to the General Hospital of Pijijiapan municipality.
The Attorney General’s Office to Care to Migrants in Chiapas has opened an investigation to determine responsibilities.
