During a recent summit involving the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the European Union (EU), the foreign ministers of Venezuela and Cuba, Yván Gil and Bruno Rodríguez, affirmed their dedication to unity among Latin American and Caribbean nations.

The discussion amidst U.S. sanctions against both countries focused on bilateral agreements and mutual support.

The officials also discussed the need for increased regional integration to balance U.S. influence in the area.

The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry reported that the ministers in Brussels conveyed their governments’ resolve to foster a world that prioritizes fairness, sovereignty, and self-determination.

Both nations’ representatives recognized the Cuban President, Miguel Díaz-Canel, for defending these principles and expressing their determination to uphold regional unity and peace.

Cuba and Venezuela have held a strong alliance since the turn of the century and remain key proponents for various regional collaborations designed to integrate Latin American and Caribbean nations.
