Discussions of the First National Workshop on Computerization and Cybersecurity, headquartered in Havana, are resumed today at the Research Center of Integrated Technologies (CITI by its Spanish acronym), at Jose Antonio Echeverria Higher Polytechnic Institute.

Since Wednesday, the event brings to the table discussions on important issues such as the computerization of Cuban society as a guarantee of welfare and sustainable development for the nation.

Gathered in commissions, some 260 experts shall discuss four key themes: human and scientists resources available in the country, e-government, computer security and economy and legality .

The workshop is rooted in dissimilar events that have been taking place since last August, and tries to establish some basic issues Cuba needs to bring more and more closer new technologies to the population.

The organizers told the press that industry experts assume that it is not possible a prosperous and sustainable society without subordinating the tools to ensure access to knowledge, efficiency, productivity and excellence to such objectives.

In addition to the meeting among participants, it is also in session an open discussion forum on the web www.mincom.gob.cu, where a group of professionals of the called new technologies respond to concerns and questions of those who choose to participate.

The Cuban government has as national priority routing the computerization of the country into an economic and social growth, from consolidation of software production industry to reduce imports in this sector and increase exports instead.
