Solidarity, courage, fraternity, and resistance were some of the most heard words during a meeting of the Cuban State Mission in the Dominican Republic with Cuban heroes Antonio Guerrero and Ramón Labañino.

On Wednesday, Ambassador Carina Soto welcomed the solidarity friends and Cuban residents. She stated that Antonio and Ramón represent the spirit of unity and resistance, “which is the same spirit of Cuba and that will accompany us in this meeting.”

Labañino explained that this visit is a response to the 11th International Meeting of the Latin American Network of Cooperative, which brings together cooperative farmers; entrepreneurs; micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises; prominent figures; and academics from several countries. The aim is to try growing together.

Our solution is to prosper and fight against the blockade that exists and will continue, stating that the cooperative is a way to face the limitations imposed by this hostile policy, he said.

The economist explained that the country is working on a macroeconomic stabilization plan, import substitution, using science, technology, innovation in technological processes, and essential investments in agriculture and clean energy.

Listening to Antonio Guerrero was also interesting for those present at the diplomatic headquarters, who, along with Ramón Labañino, Gerardo Hernández, Fernando González, and René González, served long sentences in US prisons for fighting terrorism.

Guerrero talked about his years in prison and asserted “I never had the slightest thought that I was wasting my time,”. He also made reference to Che, José Martí, the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, and thanked “all the gestures of affection and all the people who love and believe in Cuba.

During the almost three-hour meeting, Roberto Payano, president of the Dominican Campaign of Solidarity with Cuba, thanked Antonio and Ramón for their presence and gave them a picture of the five anti-terrorist patriots together.
