The president of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Vuong Dinh Hue, on Wednesday highlighted the legacy of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, whom he called an immortal symbol of revolutionary heroism.

The head of the legislative body of Vietnam praised “Fidel Castro’s unwavering spirit of struggle for national independence,” during a visit to the institution dedicated to honoring his life and work.

“In the heart of every Vietnamese, Fidel Castro is a noble image of a resilient revolutionary soldier, a great friend, a close comrade,” he said.

He described as faithful, transparent and special the relations of friendship and solidarity between the communist parties, States and peoples of Vietnam and Cuba.

Vuong Dinh Hue was accompanied in his tour by Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Elio Rodriguez and the director of the Fidel Castro Ruz Center, Rene Gonzalez.

At the Center, the visitor learned about the life of the famous guerrilla fighter, his admiration for the precursor of Vietnamese independence Ho Chi Minh, details about his three trips to that Southeast Asian nation, as well as his affection for its people.

The president of the National Assembly of Vietnam, who heads a large delegation made up of parliamentarians, ministers and other leaders, arrived in Havana on Tuesday on a visit that will last until April 23.

During his stay, Vuong Dinh Hue, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, will hold talks with parliamentary authorities, in addition to visiting other sites of historic, economic and social interest.
