FC Barcelona have announced the signing of Argentinian youngster Lucas Roman.
The 18-year-old joins Barca from Ferro Carril Oeste for a price thought to be slightly over one million euros, and has signed a contract with a buyout clause of 400 million euros until June 2026.
Although Roman will initially play for Barcelona's second team in the third tier of the Spanish game, the length of the contract shows that the club has faith that he will progress to the first team in the coming season.
Roman began his career with Ferro Carril Oeste when he was just seven years old and can operate either as a winger or an attacking midfielder.
He has so far represented Argentina at U13, U15, U17 and U20 level, where he coincided with Roman Vegan, who also plays for Barca's B team.
"I am very emotional to have this chance and I will give all that I have. I feel very privileged and I have come here to learn as much as I can," commented Roman at his official presentation.
