The Rally Dakar 2015, the most excruciating auto race in the world, was presented officially, where the takeoff is to take place next January 3, at the historic Plaza de Mayo, facing the presidential palace or Casa Rosada. "The Odissey" as this new version was presented on Thursday at the Bicentennial Museum, near the Government headquarters, by French Etienne Lavigne, executive director of the event, the Argentinean minister of Tourism, Enrique Meyer and the governor of Salta, Juan Manuel Urtubey.

Lavigne, who informed that the participation of 414 competitors from 53 countries, with their respective vehicles in the four categories of the event.

Lavigne thanked the local institutions for the total and exemplary support to this hard competition that covers nine thousand 600 kilometers and that, like the past years, besides running through Argentina, the course includes Bolivia and Chile and returns to Argentina for the finish line.

The minister of Tourism said the rally lovers of over 180 nations will monitor and live the sports passion of the competition through the coverage given by over two thousand journalists.

After the formal inauguration at the Plaza de Mayo on January 3, the Dakar 2015 rally will take off at the suburb of Baradero in Buenos Aires, founded 400 years ago, to end there two weeks after covering the 14 stages of the route measuring nine thousand 600 kilometers.

The most rigorous stages, where competitors will not receive assistance, lacking their support teams, will be in Salta (Argentina), Uyuni (Bolivia) and in Chile there will be stops in the mining cities of Copiapo, Antofagasta, Iquique and Calama.

In Argentina, the cars will tour the provinces of Buenos Aires, Santa Fe, Cordoba, La Rioja, Jujuy, Salta, Tucumán and Santiago del Estero.
