Raul Castro pays tribute to Major General Efigenio Ameijeiras Delgado

The First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, Raul Castro Ruz, headed on Tuesday the funeral services of Major General Efigenio Ameijeiras Delgado, held at the Pantheon of the Veterans of Havana' s Colon Cemetery.
José Ramón Machado Ventura, Second Secretary of the Party, said the eulogy during the service.
Ameijeiras Delgado, died last Sunday at the age of 88.
He identified himself with July 26 Movement since he was young and stood out in the struggle in the Sierra Maestra as one of the founders of the Second Eastern Front "Frank País", as Second Chief of the same and Chief of Column No. 6 "Juan Manuel Ameijeiras Delgado."
After the triumph of the Revolution, he held important responsibilities, among them Chief of the National Revolutionary Police, Chief of the General Staff of the Central Army, and Vice-Minister Chief of Combative Preparation of the Revolutionary Armed Forces.
His accumulated merits made him the founder of the Cuban Communist Party. They earned him the Honorary Title of "Hero of the Republic of Cuba."
