Cuban President urged to solve problems without immobility in 2022

Havana, Dec 31 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel highlighted the heroism of the people this year and called to solve the accumulated problems without immobility and with hope, according to the local press.

According to a report in the official Granma daily, at the last meeting of the Council of Ministers, the president urged to propose solutions, implement them and evaluate their results in order to rectify where necessary.

“It is a way to live up to what the people are asking for and what they are waiting for, because the situation has been very hard in the past two years,” he said.

The head of state called to work in a different way, to dynamize processes, to take risks, to seek efficiency and to be with the people in the neighborhoods, to follow up a deeper transformation involving education, culture, sports, health, social care and prevention.

In another moment of the meeting, the highest leaders of the country approved the continuity of studies of high school graduates towards Professional Technical and Pre-university Education, as well as the entrance to Higher Education for Pre-university graduates and other prioritized sources, corresponding to the 2022-2023 course.

The Minister of Labor and Social Security, Marta Elena Feito, said that this proposal took into account graduates’ demands in the different levels of education, the behavior of the entrance exams and the granting of places that respond to the needs of prioritized sectors.

In this regard, Minister of Higher Education, Jose Ramon Saborido, highlighted Cuba’s defense of “Education as a public good, with access for all and with a high level of social inclusion.”

Diaz-Canel called for facilitating and stimulating access to qualified labor force, in technical-professional and university education, of young people from vulnerable households, from neighborhoods with vulnerable situations and especially black and mulatto people. He also urged to improve human resources management in order not to slow down the country’s development, its capacities and potentialities.
