Kenya''s Health Minister Sicily Kariuki on Monday stated that there are broad prospects to increase  cooperation between her country and Cuba.

At the end of a meeting held in Nairobi with Cuban Vice President Ines Maria Chapman, the minister told Prensa Latina that she was pleased with the outcome of the meeting.

Kariuki -who praised the Cuban professionals' performance- said that the agreements will continue and particularly there is a coincidence that new areas of cooperation can be explored. About 100 health professionals are currently working in Kenya, a nation located 1,600 meters above sea level in East Africa.

Distributed in the 47 counties of the Kenyan geography, the Cuban doctors arrived in Nairobi in June 2018.

Their objective is to help improve the health system and achieve universal coverage in correspondence with the postulates of the World Health Organization (WHO), according to Nairobi's authorities.

After arriving in Nairobi on Sunday night, the Cuban vice president of the Councils of State and Ministers spoke with a representation of the Medical Brigade.
