Representatives from Namibia and Cuba are putting the finishing touches on the 4th session of the Binational Joint Working Group, to be held in Havana from February 11 to 13, the Cuban Embassy announced.
According to a press release from the Cuban mission in Namibia, the issue was addressed at a meeting between Cuban Ambassador Sidenio Acosta and Namibian Deputy Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Christine Hoebes.
The deputy foreign minister chairs the Namibian side of the group, while Cuba's deputy minister for Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Ileana Nuñez heads the Cuban delegation.
This working group meets annually, alternating its venue between both countries.
According to the embassy's report, Acosta and Hoebes exchanged some criteria on the progress of the excellent bilateral relations and the ways to continue strengthening them.
The Cuban diplomat took the opportunity to update the deputy minister about the current situation in his country and the worsening of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade, and thanked Namibia for its sustained support for Cuba's struggle for the end of those punitive measures that he described as a genocidal policy.
Acosta also offered Hoebes a current overview of the situation in Latin America.
