Buenos Aires, Mar 13 (Prensa Latina) In order to prevent the entry of the new Covid-19 strains detected in several nations, including neighboring Brazil, the Argentinian Government will reduce flights to several countries and strengthen access controls.

On Thursday, officials from the Ministry of the Interior, Health Minister Carla Vizzotti, Tourism and Sports Minister Matias Lammens, and National Director of Migration Florencia Carignano debated the measures that will be imposed that, among other things, will seek to step up controls of those people who must travel so that they comply with the strict seven-day quarantine.

Amid concern due to an increase in cases in neighboring countries and the new strains of the virus globally, according to Minuto Uno's website, the trips that will be restricted will be those from the worst-affected countries where the new strains was detected.

Argentina currently continues with its borders closed to foreigners, unless they enter on authorized trips to develop some essential activity, while residents do not have any restrictions to enter or exit abroad.

Since February, arrivals and departures were reduced 50 percent with Brazil and 30 percent with the United States and Europe.
