Geneva, Mar 11 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's ambassador to UN-Geneva Juan Antonio Quintanilla condemned on Thursday at the Human Rights Council a recent US bombing against the province of Deir Ezzor, which he described as a flagrant violation of the Syrian sovereignty.

Speaking in an interactive dialogue on Syria, he stressed that the attack carried out in late-February near the border with Iraq also violates the territorial integrity of that country, international law and the UN Charter.

Regarding the conflict in Syria, the permanent representative reiterated in the forum Cuba's support for the search for a peaceful and negotiated solution to the situation imposed from abroad, without foreign interference and with full respect for its sovereignty.

We reject any direct or indirect intervention without the agreement of the Syrian legitimate authorities, he expressed in the event framed in the 46th session of the Human Rights Council, scheduled here until March 23.

Quintanilla expressed confidence in the Syrian people's ability to solve together with his government the challenges that lie ahead due to the policy of aggression and regime change faced by this country for ten years.
