Washington: Crouched Hawks
especiales
After the fall of Donald Trump, everything suggests that the names of some of his closest allies are ready to take the stage.
Two of such relevant allies are Mike Pompeo, former US Secretary of State and Republican Senator from Texas, Ted Cruz, high-profile spokesman of Neo-Nazi Tea Party.
According to Diario de Nueva York, both hinted at presidential aspirations few hours after the inauguration of Joe Biden as President of the United States.
Ted Cruz was a presidential candidate in 2016.
Cruz has just criticized the return of the US to the Paris Agreement on Climate Change with a similar speech to that of “America First,” widely used by Trump.
And wrote: “By rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement, President Joe Biden indicates he is more interested in the views of the citizens of Paris than in the jobs of the citizens of Pittsburgh.”
“This agreement will do little to affect the climate and will harm the livelihoods of Americans.”
The newspaper indicates the Republican Senator was subjected to mockeries and heavy critics rejecting his comments, as it is a global agreement and climate change affects all nations.
This Cruz’s offensive, looking pretty much like Trump’s, leads us to think in another presidential run.
Mike Pompeo was the second Republican in voicing out his electoral run, as one of his tweets —this week—encouraged rumors on a likely presidential run.
He made reference to the 1,384 days remaining to the termination of recently-inaugurated Joe Biden.
In this regard, Molly Jong-Fast, editor of the website Daily Beast asked him:
Do you really believe you can be the next President of the United States?
It was actually praiseworthy, as this exposes politicians who has been part of the top power circles inside the United States.
