Cuba reports 167 new cases of Covid-19

Cuban health authorities reported today 167 new cases of Covid-19 in the last day and the country thus accumulates 11,601 patients infected with the disease since March.
Data released by the Ministry of Public Health of the Caribbean island (Minsap), 1,573 people remain hospitalized with the active virus, of them 1,559 have stable clinical evolution, 10 critical and 14 serious.
In addition, three thousand 207 patients, 634 suspects, and one thousand under surveillance are admitted for epidemiological clinical treatment.
Of the 167 cases diagnosed in the last 24 hours, 78 were contacts of other confirmed cases, 87 have a source of infection abroad, and in two the origin of the contagion could not be specified, says the Minsap.
All those confirmed belong to the 15 Cuban provinces and the highest number of infected people was presented by Havana with 55 cases.
In the last 24 hours, 78 patients were discharged from hospital, bringing the number of recovered to 9,875.
The day before, 14,767 real-time PCR samples were studied to detect the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the country reaches 1,448,906 tests carried out in more than nine months of the pandemic.
Given the increase in imported cases of Covid-19 associated with Cuban citizens from countries such as the United States, Mexico and Panama, the island's health and airport authorities will reduce the entry of travelers from those destinations as of January 1, 2021.
The measure will also include the reduction of travelers from Haiti, the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas.
