Teheran, Dec 3 (Prensa Latina) Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Yavad Zarif reiterated on Thursday that his country refuses to renegotiate the nuclear deal sealed in 2015 between Teheran and the 5+1 group (United States, United Kingdom, France, Russia and China plus Germany).

Zarif noted that Washington withdrew from the deal, but not from the UN; therefore, the US has to fulfill its commitments under Security Council Resolution 2231.

The Trump administration violated the decree of the highest international body, so the US is not in a position to change the terms of the multilateral treaty, he added.

Zarif's comments are in response to statements made by US President-elect Joe Biden, who said he is willing to return to the deal although he will seek to introduce issues such as the Iranian missile program.

The West, the FM pointed out, sold more weapons in the last year to the Gulf countries than to any other region of the world, supported the war against Yemen and the annexation by Israel of Palestinian territories, the head of Iranian diplomacy denounced.

As long as the Western nations maintain that policy in the Middle East and do not condemn Israeli terrorist behavior, they should keep quiet, the minister stressed.
