Paris, Nov 16 (Prensa Latina) US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo left France on Monday after holding talks, marked by almost total secrecy, with President Emmanuel Macron and Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian

Pompeo tweeted, 'Departing Paris, I'm grateful for the steadfast partnership between the United States and France. Had productive conversations with Emmanuel Macron and JY_LeDrian.'

The arrival of the senior US official in Paris was considered an ordeal for Macron, who has already recognized and congratulated former Vice President Joe Biden on his victory on November 3 over President Donald Trump, who is stubborn - with Pompeo's support - in admitting the defeat and in reporting alleged fraud, without showing evidence.

The future of NATO, the fight against terrorism, the global economy, relations with Russia, the Covid-19 pandemic and the situation in the Middle East were among the issues on the agenda of the meetings, but no one is certain about what happened.

France was the first stopover of a tour that will take Pompeo to Turkey, Georgia, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.
