Trump: Me Against the World
especiales
In a nutshell this seems to summarize the thought and action that Donald Trump deploys.
Journalists from the Associated Press (AP), Jill Colvin, Will Weissert, and Zeke Miller reviewed, this Monday, what the candidate president said in an effort to avoid a debacle in his campaign, during an electoral rally in Prescott, Arizona.
He also lashed out at the prestigious Dr. Anthony Fauci, the press, and polls that show him lagging behind Joe Biden in undefined states.
By returning to such encounters, he attempts to give an urgent turn of tides to his campaign.
According to AP, the lack of a consistent message, the recent spike in infections and his attacks on scientists put him at a disadvantage.
But Trump was adamant in his hope of winning a second term, although he acknowledged he did not have the same conviction.
He also dared to call scientists pessimistic when the pandemic has killed about 220,000 North Americans, a crucial fact among voters.
"People are sick and tired of listening to Fauci and all these idiots," but Fauci is a disaster” said Trump, despising, even more, the prestige that characterizes the expert.
At an interview with the CBS's show "60 Minutes," Dr. Fauci said he was not surprised by the president's illness after participating in rallies where people were not wearing masks.
Republican Senator from Tennessee, Lamar Alexander defended him, claiming that he is "one of the most distinguished public servants in the country."
While Trump stressed contempt for scientific recommendations, the senator indicated that "if more North Americans paid attention to Fauci's recommendations, we would have less sick and less dead."
The AP recalled that Biden had no campaign rallies on Monday, but his team released the following statement:
"Trump's closing message in recent days is to publicly mock Joe Biden for trusting science, calling Fauci a 'mess' and other scientists 'idiots'.
“Trump mocks Biden for listening to science, the best tool we have to keep Americans safe.
And it ends, "Trump's reckless and negligent leadership threatens to put more lives at risk."
