Cuba reiterates support for just solution to Cyprus issue

According to an official press release: “During the meeting the excellent level of the long standing relations between Cyprus and Cuba and their parliaments was reaffirmed and ways of further enhancing ties between the two bodies were discussed.”
Syllouris, the press release added, referred to recent developments regarding the Cyprus problem.
Cyprus has been divided since 1974 when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third. UN led talks have been underway since May 2015 aiming to reunify the island under a federal roof.
The Cuban Ambassador reiterated “his country’s steadfast position based on principles on a just and viable solution of the problem,” the statement said.
Fuente, the press release said, “briefed the House of Representatives President on the situation in Cuba, placing an emphasis on economic matters.”
Syllouris and Fuent also exchanged views on current affairs in the Latin American region.
