Venezuelan FM describes report on human rights as plagiarism

The head of Venezuelan diplomacy pointed out that the so-called fact-finding commission resulted from a resolution from the Human Rights Council approved by only 10% of votes, as most members abstained, except the Lima Group and some European countries aligned against Venezuela.

Arreaza noted the achievements made in the coordinated cooperation between the Bolivarian Government and the office of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet.

'Although on some occasions we have had disagreements, we accept its recommendations and work together with its team in Caracas,' the minister stated.

He added that the latest report from Bachelet's office showed progress in human rights in the country, and welcomed the pardons granted by President Nicolas Maduro to more than 100 opposition leaders and activists under investigation, in prison or wanted by Venezuelan justice for crimes against national peace.

On Wednesday, Arreaza condemned the report on alleged human rights violations, which is aimed at sabotaging relations between Venezuelan authorities and the office of the UN high commissioner.

'A report plagued with falsehoods, made from a distance, without methodological rigor, by a ghost mission against Venezuela and controlled by governments subordinated to Washington, illustrates the perverse practice of doing policy with human rights instead of policy from human rights,' Arreaza wrote on his Twitter account.
