Russia starts new phase of Covid-19 vaccine clinical trials
Russia's Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko announced on Wednesday the start of the third phase of clinical trials of the Covid-19 vaccine Sputnik V, presented by the country on August 11.
In statements to the press, the minister specified that around 31,000 volunteers will participate in this stage and work is being done on the application of new observation and exchange methods with the selected people.
According to the information disclosed, participants are of legal age and their role in the investigations will last six months.
The Sputnik news agency referred that after obtaining authorization from the Ministry, the Gamalei Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology is working on the new phase, which will take place in public hospitals in this capital and in other nations such as Brazil and Saudi Arabia.
On August 11, President Vladimir Putin unfolded that his country officially registered the first vaccine in the world against Covid-19, after passing the tests that confirm its safety and effectiveness in creating immunity in people.
The Russian authorities detailed that Sputnik V must be ready for open commercialization in the international market on January 1, 2021.
