Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz presided over the daily meeting on Tuesday of the Temporary Working Group for the Prevention and Control of the Coronavirus, which always analyses the situation in the country and in certain provinces at the end of the afternoon.

The Minister of Public Health, José Ángel Portal Miranda, reported that the number of people admitted to Cuba for care and surveillance of COVID-19 has continued to fall, reaching 3,281 people.

Of the total number of patients confirmed with the disease, 268 are currently hospitalized, representing 14.2% of the 1,887 reported since the beginning of the epidemic on the island.  Ninety-seven percent of the patients are clinically stable.

Portal Miranda referred to the incidence rate of positive cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 inhabitants, which in the last 15 days has kept Matanzas, Havana and Villa Clara provinces in the first three places, which shows the course the epidemic has been taking.

The active survey, the hard core of the confrontation in Cuba, remains at a stable figure of more than 4,295,000 people, of which 1,580,000 are older adults.

At this meeting, the authorities in Havana reported on the epidemiological situation in the capital, where 900 cases have been confirmed since the beginning of the epidemic, just two over the past day.  Regarding the population study through the PCR tests that began recently in several municipalities, Governor Reinaldo Garcia Zapata said that 944 had been carried out, of which 674 had been negative and the rest of the results were being awaited.
