Expert in Cuba points home as a barrier to fight Covid-19

Santiago de Cuba, Mar 26 (Prensa Latina) Households must become the first barrier to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, SARS-Cov-2, an expert of the Provincial Directorate of Public Health in this eastern Cuba province said.

Dr. Taisset Fuentes, an expert of the Hygiene and Epidemiology Center in Santiago de Cuba, stated on Wednesday that hygiene cares must go beyond proper hand washing and it includes all surfaces and spaces of the houses, where a good time of the daily routine of families take place due to the suspension of classes and isolation measures.

During the information program broadcast daily by Tele Turquino television channel, Fuentes stressed the requirement to comply with the international health regulations as a shield to protect national air and sea borders.

Health authorities in this city reported that about 180 patients have been admitted, 50 of which suspects, at the Joaquin Castillo Duany Military Hospital, El Colibri Clinic and other centers destined for that purpose in this city.

As part of the most recent decisions taken by the Cuban government to fight the pandemic, the former Social Workers Training School and the Balcon del Caribe Hotel are being used in this city to isolate the travelers who come from abroad through the Antonio Maceo International Airport.
