Havana, Sep 16 (Prensa Latina) Cuban company Frutas Selectas exported Persian lime produced by a farmer from the country to Spain, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment reported on Wednesday.

The general director of Foreign Trade of the institution, Vivian Herrera, confirmed on Twitter that other deliveries are enlisted from private workers, cooperatives and other forms of non-State management prepared for sales abroad.

Since July, the Cuban government announced the possibility of the private sector joining the export of services and products to defuse the current economic crisis derived from the Covid-19 pandemic and the tightening of the US blockade.

There are 37 Cuban State companies empowered to facilitate the purchase and sale of merchandise in foreign markets.

Recent data indicate that 40 percent of exports of goods in Cuba are generated by the agricultural sector, but according to the authorities, it is necessary to work to obtain better results.

On Tuesday, the Cuban company Quimimport signed contracts with a score of farmers to import fertilizers that could help export agricultural products.
