Some 39 specialists and health professionals from Cuba are part of the 14th Henry Reeve brigade arriving this Sunday in the Principality of Andorra to fight the spread of the Covid-19.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the disease a pandemic last March 11.

The Vice-minister of Public Health, Marcia Cobas, bid farewell to the contingent. She delivered the Cuban flag to the chief of the brigade,  Dr. Luis Enrique Perez.

Fifteen women and 24 men, doctors, and nurses from 12 Cuban provinces make up the group. Most of these professionals have more than ten years of experience in the field, and 60 %  have previously worked in other missions abroad.

At present, there are about 500 health professionals who are reaching out in other countries, helping to save lives amidst this pandemic.

The brigades of the Herry Reeve International Medical Brigade are currently deployed in  Italy, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Haiti, Belize, Grenada, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Dominica, among other states affected by the new coronavirus.

The Principality of Andorra is the second European nation, receiving Cuban assistance.
