A business mission from the port of Barcelona and the Higher Council of the Chamber of Commerce of Catalonia participated today at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba in a business meeting with its Cuban counterpart.

During the meeting a Cooperation Agreement between the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba and its Spanish counterpart was signed, as well as an Agreement between Procuba and the Agency for the Competitiveness of the Company.

The Catalan delegation is led by president of the port of Barcelona Sixte Cambra, who explained both the possibilities of this port and its current extension.

Cambra praised the potential of the Special Development Zone Mariel in Cuba, which he said has the conditions to become Hud (center) in the Americas, surrounded by 17 important sites in the area.

The welcome to the delegation and the businesspeople (in a stay from November 19th to 25th) was given by secretary general of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba Omar Fernandez, who highlighted the importance of this visit.

He said that there are currently 14 important economic areas significant for foreign investment, particularly in the Mariel Development Zone, and appealing sites in the rest of the country.
