Army General Raul Castro, president of the Council of States and Ministers sent an official letter to his Bolivian counterpart Evo Morales. Raul thanked Evo’s assessment to the Cuban role in the peace negotiations between the Government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia —People’s Army (FARC-EP), reported the digital website Radio Reloj.

In the letter, Raul agreed with Evo that peace is a prerequisite for Latin America and the Caribbean to consolidate as Zone of Peace; in correspondence with the Proclamation that CELAC’s Heads of States and Government signed in January 2014 in Havana.

The indigenous leader Evo Morales congratulated the final agreement approved in Havana to put an end to the armed conflict in Colombia. Indeed, Morales also showed respect and admiration for the government of Cuba due to its role as mediator in the Colombian issue.

Likewise, he confirmed Cuba’s best assets are health, solidarity, and education; and now social peace must be added.
