Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Sunday condemned the coup d'état perpetrated against his Bolivian counterpart, Evo Morales, an action that has been described as violent and cowardly.

On his Twitter account, the Cuban president called on the international community to mobilize 'for Evo's life and freedom'.

'The right wing with a violent and cowardly coup d'état is attacking democracy in #Bolivia. Our strong condemnation of the coup d'état and our solidarity with the brother president @evoespueblo. The world must mobilize for Evo's life and freedom. #EvoNoEstasSolo #SomosCuba,' the Cuban head of State twitted.

For his part, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez said on Twitter that the Cuban Foreign Ministry expresses its solidarity with the indigenous president.

'A strong condemnation from @CubaMINREX of the coup d'état in #Bolivia and our solidarity with the brother president @evoespueblo, a protagonist and a symbol of the vindications of the indigenous peoples of #OurAmerica. We call for world mobilization for Evo's life and freedom,' the head of Cuban diplomacy twitted.

Bolivian President Evo Morales resigned on Sunday in a speech broadcast life on local television, in order to prevent the escalation of violence, attacks and aggressions by Carlos Mesa and Fernando Camacho against his comrades from Movement to Socialism.
