The need of integration and unity to properly organize social movements and progressive forces as well as the insertion of youth in every process was the main lines of debates in the panel Integration, Identities, and Common Struggles, in session yesterday as part of the Anti-Imperialist Meeting of Solidarity, for Democracy, and against Neoliberalism.

The results were recorded in the report of the working group, where developments and setbacks of the integration processes in Latin America and the Caribbean were highlighted.

20 speeches were delivered by some of the 170 participants in the Commission. The lines of discussion focused on how to face domination, set the spaces for actors challenging the Empire´s hegemony in the U.S., and the promotion of culture to tackle alienating values.

There was consensus regarding the need to set coherent migration policies and the necessary respect to diversity, national identities, and recognition to the right of equity.

Meanwhile, there was a strong rejection to foreign pressures, foreign military bases, arbitrary arrests as well as the criminalization of popular struggles.

Cuba was recognized as a symbol of unity, solidarity, humanism, justice, and democracy and the economical, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. on Cuba was fiercely condemned.

Debates in Commissions generated several proposals to the plan of action; namely, the participation of organizations in the Third International Workshop on the Proclamation of Latin American and the Caribbean as Zone of Peace, and the call to the mobilization “International Anti-Imperialist Meeting” to be held in May 2020.
