Cuba is currently facing dengue outbreaks in several areas of the country, but nationally there are no reported cases of cholera, Chikungunya or transmission of Zika, an official source reported Tuesday.

This is what Dr. Regla Angulo, Deputy Chief of Epidemiology at the Ministry of Public Health, said during a meeting of members of the Health Commission of the National Assembly of People's Power.

The public health specialist referred to actions to face epidemic outbreaks of dengue, whose focus is mainly on water tanks.

Regarding this, Dr. Angulo warned of little perception of risk in the population, which undermines the hygiene-sanitary campaign.

She also said that the high temperature, the change in the cycle of precipitation and the proliferation of solid waste dumps contribute to the proliferation of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, which bite transmits this disease.

Angulo said that in Cuba there are no cases of cholera diagnosed since the first semester of 2017, Zika transmission has not been reported for one year and there are no cases of Chikungunya.

These days, they work on the 10 permanent committees of the Cuban Parliament, which has on its agenda to approve the weekend draft laws on fisheries, national symbols and electoral legislation, in addition to other issues.
