The US General Director of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Carlos Fernandez de Cossío, denounced in Havana Tuesday the ambition of the White House governments to control Cuba''s destiny since two centuries ago.

'Two hundred years of history testify to the persistent ambition of U.S. rulers to control the destiny of Cuba, in the face of the stoic determination of Cubans to defend their sovereign right', the diplomat wrote in Twitter.

Fernandez added that the current hostile offensive from Washington with its Monroe doctrine will be defeated.

The current U.S. administration with its aggressive and meddling policy tries to suffocate the Cuban people through measures that tighten the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba for almost six decades.

The Donald Trump Government activated Title III of the Helms-Burton Act (in force since 1996) last May 2.

This section opens the possibility for U.S. citizens to file lawsuits in the U.S. courts against persons or companies that 'traffic' (Washington's pretext) in property nationalized by the Cuban government after 1959.

Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Cuban Foreign Minister, emphasized on Monday that with the activation of Title III, this policy marks its extraterritorial character by transgressing foreign trade rules and hindering Cuba from foreign investment, threatening current and potential partners.
