Cuban President Predicts Popular Support for Referendum

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said Tuesday that the island''s people will support the Revolution and Socialism during the February 24 referendum.

For Cuba, for the Homeland, defending our truths; the noble, heroic and brave people will demonstrate on February 24 the majority support for his Revolution and Socialism ratifying the Constitution, the president wrote on his Twitter account @DiazCanelB.

The National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba called for a referendum on Sunday, February 24, in which citizens will ratify or not the Magna Carta approved in the plenary of the legislative body.

The question that will center the query will be: 'Do you ratify the new Constitution of the Republic?' The law of laws will be considered ratified if the majority of citizens do so.

Before the convocation, the deputies present in the second ordinary period of the IX Legislature, supported the text, enriched with the opinion of the people in more than 133 thousand meetings held from August 13 to November 15 with the attendance of almost nine million of Cubans.
